WASHINGTON — The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a public health alert on Jan. 5 for a frozen, raw ground beef product that may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically hard plastic and metal.
Because the products are no longer available for purchase, the agency did not issue a recall.
Produced on Dec. 10, 2024, the following product is subject to the health alert:
- Vacuum-sealed packages weighing approximately 1 lb containing “Turner Farm”, “STOCKYARDS PACKING COMPANY GROUND BEEF” and lot code 241210.
The product bears the establishment number “EST. M2035” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The frozen ground beef was shipped to a retail location at Turner Farm, 7400 Given Road, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45243.
The establishment notified FSIS of a consumer complaint reporting pieces of hard plastic and metal found in the raw ground beef.
FSIS clarified that there have been no confirmed reports of injury or illness due to consumption of the product.
