MADISON, WIS. – Pierce County Meats Inc., based in Ellsworth, Wis., announced a voluntary Class II recall for various packaged ready-to-eat meat products.

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) found out that the affected products carry a mark of inspection for establishment No. 132 and were purchased or received before Jan. 8.

According to the recall notice, products included in this recall were processed as a service from inspected carcasses at Pierce County Meats. For their customers, products were directly purchased from the Pierce County Meats or Big Acres Meats retail stores in Prescott, Wis.

The Class II recall came from evidence found during a routine inspection activity. The misbranded products contained the allergen “wheat” and were produced without DATCP-approved formulations. The labels did not have the allergen “wheat” put on the labels.

  • Cheddar Smoked Country Style Sausage
  • Cheddar Snack Sticks
  • Cheddar Summer Sausage
  • Cranberry Cheddar Snack Sticks
  • Cranberry Wild Rice Summer Sausage
  • Honey BBQ Snack Sticks
  • Jalapeno and Cheddar Summer Sausage
  • Original Summer Sausage
  • Pepper Snack Sticks
  • Pepperjack Snack Sticks
  • Regular Smoked Country Style Sausage
  • Ring Bologna
  • Smoked Beef and Pork Polish Sausage
  • Snack Sticks
  • Teriyaki Snack Sticks

No illnesses have been reported because of consuming these products. If someone has symptoms of a foodborne allergic reaction they should contact their doctor. DATCP said people can contact Pierce County Meats for more information if they have questions.
