WASHINGTON - The Department of Homeland Security issued a final rule amending Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification) regulations to allow the form to be signed electronically and retained in an electronic format. This final rule makes minor changes to an interim final rule that took effect in 2006, according to The American Meat Institute (A.M.I.).

This final rule is effective Aug. 23.
