Regional changes from the previous year were East North Central, up 7%; West North Central, down slightly; North and South Atlantic, up 3%; and South Central and West, down 17%.
During June, turkey poults hatched in the U.S. totaled 24.4 million, down 1% from June 2009. Poults hatched were up 1% from the May 2010 total of 24.2 million poults. Regional changes from the previous year were East North Central, up 11%; West North Central, up 2%; North and South Atlantic, down 1%; and South Central and West, down 25%.
The 24.1 million net poults placed during June 2010 in the U.S. were down slightly from the number placed during the same month one year earlier. Net placements were up slightly from the May 2010 total of 24.0 million.
