DAKOTA CITY, Neb. – Wholesale, commodity packages of ground beef chuck totaling 40,948 lbs. produced at Tyson Fresh Meats Inc.’s Dakota City, Neb., plant are being voluntarily recalled after a sample of the product analyzed by the US Department of Agriculture was determined to contain E. coli O157:H7. No illnesses have been associated with consuming this product.

Recalled products include 80-lb. boxes containing eight, 10-lb. chubs of 80/20 fine ground beef chuck. Each box contains “Est. 245C” inside the USDA mark of inspection and a production code of D-0381-BH.

Produced Oct. 24, the “best before or freeze by” date of the recalled product is Nov. 13, which appears on the clear film casing of each 10-lb. chub. Although most of the affected product has most likely been consumed, Tyson is contacting its customers to ensure all suspect product is removed from the food-supply chain.

Food distributors in 16 states received the suspect product including Associated Grocers, Baton Rouge, La.; Affiliated Kenosha, Kenosha, Wis.; J.H.
