WASHINGTON — Turkey and red meat stocks on Nov. 30 were higher than year-earlier levels, but chicken stocks were lower, the US Department of Agriculture said in its latest Cold Storage report.
Frozen turkey stocks were 192,993,000 lbs, down 53% from October but up 11% from November 2010. Total chicken stocks were 659,035,000 lbs, down 5% from October and down 14% from November 2010. Total frozen poultry stocks were 854,634,000 lbs, down 23% from October and down 9% from the previous year, the USDA said.
Frozen red meat supplies were 954,700,000 lbs, up 3% from both October 2011 and November 2010. Frozen pork stocks totaled 494,880,000 lbs, up 1% from the previous month and up 6% from November 2010. Frozen pork belly stocks were 26,840,000 lbs, up 207% from October but down 29% from November 2010. Beef stocks in freezers totaled 437,563,000 lbs, up 6% from October and up 1% from November 2010.
Frozen egg stocks on Nov. 30 totaled 32,908,000 lbs, down 3% from October but up 44% from November 2010. Stocks of egg whites were 3,885,000 lbs, down 7% from October but up 46% from November 2010. Frozen egg yolk stocks were 1,530,000 lbs, up 6% from October and up 81% from November 2010. Whole and mixed egg stocks were 8,772,000 lbs, down 11% from October but up 49% from November 2010. Unclassified egg stocks were 18,721,000 lbs, up 2% from October and up 38% from November 2010.
