SÃO PAULO, Brazil – JBS SA signed an agreement on April 27 with the public authorities of the Brazilian state of Acre, as well as with other government authorities from various Brazilian states, ending the civil action against the company. Valid throughout Brazil, the agreement embodies the company’s ongoing and sustainable practices in the Amazon Region and reaffirms its commitment to transparency and social and environmental development, the company said in a press release.

The agreement is also aligned with JBS principles and with its shareholders, including the BNDES (Brazilian Social and Development Bank) with whom the company already has an ongoing agreement to implement innovative environmental practices throughout the meat supply chain, resulting in a more sustainable sector.

The agreement with these government authorities reinforces work being done by JBS with cattle ranchers. The company has enhanced the partnership with Embrapa (Brazilian Agriculture Research Institute) to promote Good Agricultural Practices (BPA) with cattle ranchers in all regions.

Public authorities praised JBS's initiative and hopes other companies will follow this progressiveness, the company said.
