KANSAS CITY, MO. – In our effort to continually upgrade what is considered the industry’s most-respected editorial team, the publisher of MEAT&POULTRY announced the addition of Dr. David Theno as a contributing editor. Beginning in the March issue of MEAT&POULTRY, Mr. Theno will address the latest food-safety news and trends in a bimonthly column written exclusively for M&P readers.

Mr. Theno, who retired from his position as chief product-safety officer with San Diego-based Jack in the Box Inc. this past September, is credited with not only bringing the fast-food chain back from the brink after it was linked to the infamous E. coli outbreak of the early 1990s, but also for revolutionizing food-safety practices for the entire meat-processing industry. It was Mr. Theno who applied hazard analysis and critical control point programs first in meat plants and eventually throughout the food chain, establishing H.A.C.C.P. as a universal food-safety protocol in the U.S. and around the world.

Mr. Theno joins an editorial team that includes industry veterans whose careers have been dedicated to serving the industry.
