TAMPA, FLA. – As the economy continues sagging, it’s having a negative impact on the meat, poultry and allied industries. In a new strategy to entice customers to eat out more often during these tough times, Outback Steakhouse rolled out a new menu on Feb. 18 that includes 15 meals under $15 starting at $9.95.

"We know consumers crave great-tasting, high-quality appetizers, entrées and desserts," said Jeff Smith, president of Outback Steakhouse. "Our new menu features classic favorites and new culinary creations, at prices that are easy on the wallet."

The new menu includes classic Outback signature steaks and baby back ribs as well as new boldly-flavored steaks, pork, shrimp and seafood entrées.

Prices and availability on individual items vary, but some highlights include:

* Savory Pepper Mill Steak: Thick slices of New York Strip Steak (cooked to order) encrusted with cracked black pepper and topped with a savory brandy cream sauce.

* Sweet Glazed Roast Pork Tenderloin: Sliced slow-roasted pork Tenderloin drizzled with a sweet tangy glaze.

* Ribs and Alice Spring Chicken; a one-third rack of baby back ribs paired with a 5 oz. grilled chicken breast topped with bacon, honey mustard sauce, sautéed mushrooms, Monterey Jack and Cheddar.
