GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. – Family Fare Supermarkets, Felpausch Food Centers and Glen's Markets, which are owned and operated by Spartan Stores, launched Spartan Brand All Natural Chicken on Jan. 30. The "100% natural" product is marketed as being minimally processed and free of hormones and artificial ingredients by the company.

Spartan Brand All Natural Chicken is being sold in 21 different varieties, including chicken breasts, chicken tenders, drumsticks, wings and multiple family packs.

"We know that cost impacts customers' protein purchasing decisions, and chicken continues to be one of the most economical choices for their protein dollar," said Alan Hartline, executive vice president of merchandising with Spartan Stores. "What makes Spartan brand so attractive is not only its value, but it is 100% all natural, and free of hormones and artificial ingredients. We are very excited to be able to offer this product line through our retail banners and many of our independent retailers."

Grand Rapids, Michigan-based Spartan Stores Inc. distributes more than 40,000 private-label and national brand products to approximately 350 independent grocery stores in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. Spartan also owns and operates 100 retail supermarkets in Michigan.
