HAYWARD, Calif. — Columbus Foods, a leading processor of premium specialty meats, was recently honored by receiving the City of Hayward, Calif.’s Business Recognition Award. Columbus was recognized for its contribution to the economic well-being of the city; more than half of Columbus’ Bay Area-based employees work in Hayward, which is where the processor is based.

The company has been doing business in Hayward since 1995, said Tim Fallon, Columbus Foods CEO. “This award is a testament to our strong commitment to our community, employees and our customers,” he added.

Columbus recently expanded in Hayward. Last June, it opened a new $31 million, 60,000-square-foot slicing and packaging facility for its deli meats and salame after its former plant was destroyed by a fire. The plant operates three production lines with additional capacity available.
