ATLANTA – Dr. Elisabeth Hagen, Undersecretary for Food Safety, is scheduled to speak at two International Poultry Expo (IPE) programs, USPOULTRY announced on Jan. 19.
On Jan. 25, Dr. Hagen will give opening remarks at the Pre-Harvest Food Safety Conference. She will also speak at the Executive Conference on the Future of the American Poultry Industry, during which she will discuss how the Food Safety and Inspection Service and the poultry industry can work together to further enhance food safety.
Dr. Hagen oversees the policies and programs of FSIS. She also chairs the US Codex Steering Committee, which provides guidance to US delegations to the Codex Alimentarius Commission. She is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and has a BS from Saint Joseph's Univ. She completed specialty medical training at the Univ. of Texas Southwestern and the Univ. of Pennsylvania, and is board certified in infectious diseases.
