MINONG, Wis. – Jack Link’s Beef Jerky announced plans to acquire a meat snack processing plant from Skylark Meats, LLC, a subsidiary of American Foods Group, LLC. The transaction is expected to close at the end of October. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The facility, in Bellevue, Neb., will allow Jack Link’s to expand production and position the company for future growth. The meat snack category has grown almost 13 percent in 2012, according to Nielsen.
The facility already is a co-packaging producer of some Jack Link’s meat snack products. The company plans to retain current management and employees at the plant.
“Skylark Meat’s Bellevue plant is a perfect fit for our business with an experienced workforce and management team,” said Jack Link, chief executive officer and chairman of the board. “The addition of this plant gives us the opportunity to expand on our existing manufacturing operations and enhance our ability to meet our customers’ needs.”
