OTTAWA, Ontario – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Loblaw Companies Ltd. alerted consumers not to eat certain beef burger products on concerns the products may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.
The recall of Butcher’s Choice Garlic Peppercorn Beef Burgers is the result of an ongoing investigation into a number of E. coli infections in Canada, according to CFIA. The agency said investigators are testing additional products collected across Canada, and the recall may expand to include other product codes or items based on test results.
The Butcher's Choice Garlic Peppercorn Beef Burgers are sold frozen in 1.13-kg packages bearing UPC 0 60383 89363 7. The affected product bears the code BEST BEFORE 2013 MR 03 EST 752. The products were distributed nationally.
