SPRINGDALE, Ark. — Tyson Foods’ Ford Ave. plant in Springdale, Ark., suffered a fire on its roof the morning of Feb. 8, which firefighters quickly extinguished. According to The Associated Press, an exhaust flue on the roof overheated and caught part of the roof on fire. However, a Tyson spokesman told MEATPOULTRY.com the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
“Employees were evacuated and there were no injuries,” Worth Sparkman, company spokesman, said. “The damage was mostly due to smoke. We expect the plant to resume normal operations on Friday [Feb. 10] morning.”
Tyson’s Ford Ave. plant employs approximately 85 people and manufactures further-processed products for foodservice customers.
