SASKATOON, Saskatchewan – A processing plant at the center of a growing E. coli-related recall of frozen ground beef products has ceased operations, according to a report from the Montreal Gazette.
The plant, based in Saskatoon, stopped operations after the Canadian Food Inspection Agency began investigating a complaint that someone had become sick after consuming the products made by New Food Classics. The affected items were produced at the plant between July 1, 2011, and Feb. 15, 2012, CFIA said. New Food Classics voluntarily recalled the affected product.
