WASHINGTON – Eggs in incubators on March 1 declined slightly from 2011, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), Agricultural Statistics Board, US Department of Agriculture.
Turkey eggs in incubators on March 1 totaled 28.3 million, down slightly from March 1, 2011. Eggs in incubators advanced 1 percent from the Feb. 1 total of 28.0 million eggs, according to NASS.
Poults hatched during February also declined compared to 2011. Turkey poults hatched during February 2012, in totaled 22.9 million, a decrease of 1 percent from February 2011. Poults hatched also declined by 6 percent from the January total of 24.5 million poults.
Net poults placed during February increased 1 percent over 2011, NASS said. Net poults placed totaled 22.3 million during February 2012. Net placements were down 6 percent from the January 2012 total of 23.6 million.
