TORONTO, Ontario – Burger King Restaurants of Canada Inc. announced the opening of the first Whopper Bar restaurant in the Calgary International Airport.
The restaurant opening significance is two-fold: It highlights the company’s updated restaurant design and offers patrons a customizable menu, according to the company.
"The Whopper Bar has already been embraced in major cities around the world, so we're thrilled the concept has now arrived in Calgary," said Lucy Todish, director of marketing for Burger King Restaurants of Canada Inc. "In keeping with our ambitious expansion plans, the new Whopper Bar is our 27th restaurant across the country showcasing our sleek 20/20 restaurant design."
The Whopper Bar features a selection of toppings and menu that are not available in traditional Burger King restaurants. After customers select their sandwich, they can choose from more than 30 ingredients in a “toppings theater”, including pepper bacon, guacamole and crispy onions, the company said. The Whopper Bar menu will include premium sandwiches such as:
• The Angry Whopper sandwich, which is topped with crispy onions, jalapeño peppers, pepper jack cheese, bacon and a tangy sauce
• The California Whopper sandwich, topped with guacamole, crispy bacon and Swiss cheese
• The Pepper Bacon Steakhouse XT burger, covered with pepper bacon and melted cheddar cheese
• The BK Black and Bleu Steakhouse XT burger, named for the bleu cheese and blackened Cajun sauce that tops the sandwich
