WASHINGTON – The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service is holding a public meeting to give information and to hear public comments on agenda items and proposed US positions to be discussed during the 40th Session of the Codex Committee on Food Labeling.
The public meeting is scheduled for April 18 in Washington DC. The committee will discuss:
• Proposed draft revision of the Guidelines for Use of Nutrition and Health Claims: Additional Conditions for Nutrient Content Claims and Comparative Claims
• Draft definition of nutrient reference values for inclusion in the Guidelines for Nutrition Labeling
• Requirements for mandatory nutrition labeling
• Guidelines for the production, processing, labeling and marketing of organically produced foods
The 40th Session of the Codex Committee on Food Labeling will be held in Ottawa, Ontario from May 15-18.
