FORT SMITH, Ark. – OK Industries announced a planned $7 million expansion of the company’s poultry processing facility, which will bring additional jobs to Fort Smith, according to The Associated Press.
The company plans to hire a total of 182 people, 110 in Fort Smith and another 72 in Heavener, Okla. Donna Miller, company spokeswoman, said most of those positions will be in the company’s deboning operation. Priority will be given to employees who were laid off in 2011.
OK Industries employs more than 2,800 people in Arkansas and Oklahoma. Industrias Bachoco, which is owned and controlled by the Bours family of Sonora, Mexico, acquired the company.
