CALGARY, Alberta – Smashburger plans to open its first location in Calgary, Alberta, on May 2, the company announced on April 30. A second Calgary location is slated to open in June.The company said each Calgary location will feature a regional Alberta-inspired menu to highlight local suppliers and flavors.

"We've had great success in the US and consistently hear positive feedback from visiting Canadians," says David Prokupek, chairman and chief executive officer of Smashburger. "We felt Calgary was an ideal market to launch our first Canadian locations due to the thriving economy and burgeoning food scene."
