CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Pilgrim’s Pride is laying off 85 workers at a poultry processing plant in Chattanooga, according to the Associated Press.
Plant employees were notified May 24 about the layoffs, which are effective at week’s end. However, the company said it expects to recall many of the laid-off workers as other positions within the plant become available. Pilgrim’s said the layoffs came as a result of streamlining some operations.
Meanwhile, Pilgrim’s Pride will continue processing all birds grown for the plant.
