LA GRANGE, NC – A massive barn fire at Hill Top Farm in La Grange, NC, killed about 7,000 turkeys the morning of June 13, according to The Free Press, Kinston, NC. Hill Top Farms is a contract turkey producer for Butterball.
A 911 call came from the farm at about 5:30 a.m., reporting that a fire had started in one of the farm’s two poultry barns, according to the report. Firefighters from the La Grange Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call, however the tin roof of the barn reportedly collapsed, killing the turkeys housed inside.
No one was injured in the blaze.
