NORWALK, Wis. – VPP Group received citations for 11 safety violations at the company’s Norwalk beef processing plant after a worker was electrocuted in December 2011, according to LaCrosse Tribune.com.

The company faces fines of up to $186,000. An inspection by the US Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration revealed that the accident occurred when workers were sent to fix a leaking water pipe near equipment that was not prepared for use in wet areas.

VPP Group LLC was previously known as Valley Pride Pack Inc. The company provides beef and other meat products to fast-food companies and businesses that supply beef to school lunch programs. There have been nine inspections and 24 citations issued to the company since 1996, according to OSHA records. One inspection was initiated after a worker was electrocuted at the plant in 2009.
