CARPINTERIA, Calif. – Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s, whose parent company is CKE Restaurants Inc., announced plans to buy pork from producers that do not use gestation crates by 2022, according to the Los Angeles Times. CKE operates more than 3,000 locations, where bacon plays an important ingredient role on its menus.
Thus far in 2012, McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s, Denny’s and Safeway announced plans that in the future they will buy pork only from suppliers not using gestation crates.
