WASHINGTON – Turkey eggs in incubators on July 1 increased 5 percent from 2011 totals, according to data from the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) of the US Department of Agriculture.
Turkey eggs in incubators totaled 30.6 million, while eggs in incubators were up 1 percent from the June 1 total of 30.4 million eggs, NASS said.
Turkey poults hatched during June 2012 advanced 5 percent to 25.1 million compared to the comparable period in 2011. Poults hatched declined 2 percent from the May 2012 total of 25.5 million poults, according to NASS.
Producers placed 24.7 million net poults during June 2012, up 4 percent from the number placed during the same month in 2011. Net placements were down 1 percent from the May 2012 total of 25.1 million, NASS said.
