COLUMBUS, Ohio – White Castle announced plans to build a frozen food facility in Vandalia, Ohio.

The 75,000 sq. ft. plant will cost $18 million to build and is near the Dayton International Airport. The first phase of construction is scheduled to begin in the fall with completion expected in summer 2013. The plant will produce frozen hamburgers and cheeseburgers that will be distributed to grocery and convenience stores. The company said it expects to create 100 permanent jobs in the Vandalia area.

The Vandalia frozen food plant is the third for White Castle; the other two plants are in Covington, Ohio and Louisville, Ky.

White Castle is a family owned business based in Columbus, with more than 400 restaurants in 12 states.
