WEBSTER CITY, Iowa – Smoky Market Foods Inc. announced it has organized its revenue operations into three independently functioning business units — a contract food production group, a foodservice and retail distribution group and a fast-casual restaurant concept.
"We have weathered a long and difficult period since becoming public back in 2007, and we've evolved now into a sophisticated organization of highly specialized food production, which is poised for multi-channel revenue operations that are being directed by proven industry executive talent who are committed to succeed," said Eddie Feintech, chairman, president and CEO of Smoky Market Foods Inc. "By establishing these three distinct operating companies, each with a respective business revenue channel providing profit contribution to the company and managed by partners who are experts in their sectors, we have positioned SMKY to launch operations and secure its financing. Our two Smoky Brand Group executives have brought their extensive network of food brokers, co-pack manufacturers, chain buyers and qualified equity investors to SMKY's corporate table," he added.
The three operating companies are the Core Operations Group, the Smoky Brands Group and the BarBQ Diner Enterprise Group. Core Operations Group will become activated after the company acquires its Iowa USDA meat processor. The Smoky Brands Group, which is being operated by two veteran executives from the industry, will involve foodservice and retail distribution of the Smoky Market and Smoky Kosher brands. The BarBQ Diner Enterprise Group will launch the company's unique fast-casual, barbecue restaurant concept.
Jeff Carrick, with nearly 40 years of food industry experience including executive-level positions with major food companies and brokerage company ownership, has been named president/COO of the Smoky Brands Group. In addition, Mike Robinson, who has joined the Smoky Brands Group as executive vice president of sales, also brings more than 35 years of senior management experience in the food and beverage industry.
The executives are signing regional food brokers to market SMKY food products through foodservice distributors. As the program goes national, distribution will begin in Texas, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado. Retail distribution through supermarkets will begin in early 2013.
