WASHINGTON – Turkey eggs in incubators on Sept. 1, 2012, totaled 26.3 million, down 6 percent from Sept. 1, 2011, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Eggs in incubators declined 9 percent from the Aug. 1, 2012, total of 28.9 million eggs, NASS said.
Turkey poults hatched during August 2012 eased to 23.8 million compared to August 2011. Poults hatched were fell 9 percent from the July 2012 total of 26.2 million poults, according to NASS.
The 23.5 million net poults placed during August 2012 dipped 2 percent from the number placed during the comparable year-ago period. Net placements declined 11 percent from the July 2012 total of 26.4 million.
