DLF Shopping Place in Delhi is the location of the new restaurant, the company reported. The restaurant is the first of 10 restaurants that are part of a development deal between Pollo Tropical and Delhi-based Paramount Cuisines Pvt. Ltd. Paramount Cuisines will open at least 10 Pollo Tropical locations in the National Capital Region, Punjab, Chandigarh and Haryana by 2016 as part of the agreement. The Pollo Tropical brand expansion to India is result of the chain's participation in a US Department of Commerce-sponsored Franchise Trade Mission to India.
“The opening of the first Pollo Tropical in India is a true testament to the fact that this brand is not bordered by hemispheres, languages or culture,” said Marc Mushkin, senior vice president of International Development for Pollo Tropical. “The flavor resonates with freshness and uniqueness that we believe will create loyal fans among our guests in India.”
Pollo Tropical is a subsidiary of Fiesta Restaurant Group, which owns and operates 95 locations in the Florida, Georgia and Tennessee plus four licensed restaurants located on college campuses in Florida. Additionally, the company has 33 international franchised locations in Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, India, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.
