The expansion will add 75 jobs to the facility at a cost of $24 million. Roughly 500 workers are currently employed at the plant. Garner, NC-based Butterball acquired the plant from Gusto Packing Co. in 2012.

We look forward to deepening our roots in Illinois to support our growing business and provide long-term solutions that meet consumer demand for Butterball’s delicious products.”
The expansion makes the company eligible for state tax credits based on the jobs created. It is also eligible for a low-interest loan from the village of Montgomery.

Butterball is co-owned by Lenexa, Kan.-based Seaboard Corp.
