The FSIS website states that all poultry and poultry products shipped from Arkansas and Wisconsin on or after July 22 are ineligible for export. Additionally, products shipped from Wisconsin to New York State on or after Jan. 28 are also ineligible for export to China. The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service reported that Japan had banned Arkansas poultry imports in June, while Russia already had banned poultry imports from the state.
The H7N7 virus was first confirmed June 18 at a breeder chicken farm in Scott County, Ark. The poultry farmer, a supplier for Springdale, Ark.-based Tyson Foods Inc., euthanized the entire flock to stop the spread of the virus.
Arkansas is the second-leading producer of broiler chickens behind Georgia, according to US Department of Agriculture statistics.
