PEARL, Miss. – Traditions Meal Solutions, a frozen-meal producer in Pearl Miss., recalled 2,486 lbs. of frozen chicken meals that were misbranded and contained milk, an undeclared allergen, according to the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). Traditions is a division of Valley Services Inc.

The meals contain milk, which was not declared on the product label. A routine label review uncovered the problem, FSIS reported. The problem occurred after a change in formulation resulted in milk being omitted from the label. Milk is a sub-ingredient of butter flavoring used in the meals. No illnesses were reported.

The affected products include:

A three-compartment tray containing “Lemon Pepper Chicken Breast Filet with Rib Meat Smoke Flavor Added / Mixed Vegetables / Basil and Garlic Fettuccine” bearing the establishment number “P-13850” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The products were produced and packaged on Oct. 5, 2012, Dec 19, 2012, and Jan. 28, 2013. The meals were distributed to foodservice establishments nationwide, according to FSIS.
