WASHINGTON – Advance Pierre Foods, Enid, Okla., recalled 1,200 lbs. of chicken fried chicken breasts on concerns the product may contain pieces of metal, according to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The company discovered the problem after two consumer complaints; however, FSIS and the company have not received any reports of injury associated with consumption of these products. The agency said the problem occurred when a small metal tool fell into a grinder. Metal detectors discovered the tool, FSIS said, and Advance Pierre diverted product. But the product subject to recall was packaged and shipped before corrective actions were taken.

The products subject to recall include:

• 22.75-oz. pouches of Fast Classics Chicken Fried Chicken Breasts
• Cases containing six, 22.75-oz .pouches Fast Classics Chicken Fried Chicken Breasts

The recalled product bears the establishment number P-2260Y inside the USDA mark of inspection, and a best-by date of Jan. 22, 2014, the lot number 1522960202, and a UPC number 75901-33100. The products were distributed in Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.
