SYDNEY, Australia – Some McDonald’s restaurants across Australia will undergo a temporary name change, according to news reports.
In recognition of Australia Day, which commemorates the country’s founding in 1788, 13 McDonald’s restaurants will change their signs to read Macca’s. The change came after a survey commissioned by McDonald’s found that 55 percent of Australians referred to the fast-food chain by its nickname.
McDonald’s signs will be returned to each restaurant by early February.
