TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Peco Foods Inc.is considering plans to build a $120 million poultry processing plant and other facilities in Northeast Arkansas, according to anArkansas Business report.

The proposed site for the new plant is two miles south of Pocahontas, Ark., in Randolph County. The report also states that a hatchery and truck shop would add another $20 million to the project cost. A $36 million feed mill near Corning, Ark., is also part of the plan.


The plant could open by Jan. 2016 with more than 300 employees. That figure could increase to at least 1,000 when the facility is operating at full capacity, according to Arkansas Business. The proposed feed mill would employ an additional 50 workers.

Peco Foods is a family-owned business with four kill plants, two further processing plants, four hatcheries, and four feed mills located in Alabama and Mississippi.
