MOSCOW – Beef, pork and poultry production in Russia advanced in January compared to the comparable year-ago period, Bloomberg reported.
Beef production rose 6.5 percent to 12,200 metric tons, while pork production rose 26 percent to 79,900 tons, according to Bloomberg, citing statistics from the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat). Poultry production and further products gained 9.7 percent to reach 292,000 tons.
The country's cattle herd declined 0.6 percent to 20 million head. Russia's hog herd grew 10 percent to 19.2 million head, and sheep and goats climbed 5.9 percent to 23.9 million head, Bloomberg reported.
