WASHINGTON – Shell eggs broken totaled 179 million dozen during December 2012, up 6 percent from December 2011 and 7 percent above the 167 million broken in January, according to US Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).
During 2012, shell eggs broken totaled 2.114 billion dozen, up 2 percent from the comparable period in 2011, NASS reported. To date, cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2012 was 2.739 billion lbs., up 1 percent from 2011.
