DUBLIN, Ireland – A second round of DNA tests found three products contained traces of horse meat, according to the Food Safety Authority of Ireland.
Three samples of meat from 1,228 tests tested positive for the presence of horse meat, FSAI said. The affected products were Tesco brand Simple Roast Meatloaf and Oak Farm Cottage Pie.
"All the positive results have been published previously and products have been withdrawn from the market," FSAI said. "The testing was carried out on beef meat ingredients and final beef products. These were taken from a range of suppliers, caterers, processors, manufacturers and retailers."
Food businesses that submitted test results were: ABP Ireland, Convenience Foods; Cow & Gate; Dawn Farm Foods; Dunnes Stores; Green Isle Foods; HJ Heinz; Keystone Manufacturing Ireland; Liffey Meats; Musgraves; Rangeland and Tesco.
FSAI said 1,122 final beef products were tested with three positive results greater than 1 percent. Total beef meat ingredients tested totaled 106 with no positive tests, according to FSAI.
