MILLSBORO, Del. – Allen Harim Millsboro, LLC announced plans to acquire a former Pinnacle Foods Vlasic processing facility in Millsboro, Del., according to news reports. The company said it will invest $100 million to remodel the facility into a state-of-the-art poultry processing plant that will employ about 700 people.
The facility will also house cut-up and cooking operations. The former Vlasic pickle plant has 112,000 sq. ft. of production space and 360,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space, according to news reports.
"We are excited about bringing Millsboro into our family," said Gary Gladys, CEO, in a press release. "The new facility will expand our processing capacity, allow us to introduce new products and hire more employees. This will have a significant economic impact in Delaware, and serve as a symbol of our deep commitment to the United States market with an investment of an estimated $100 million."
Seoul, South Korea-based Allen Harim Foods operates poultry processing facilities in Harbeson, Del., and Cordova, Md.; breeding operations in Liberty, NC; and a hatchery, feed mill and corporate offices in Seaford, Del.
The company also announced it sold Allen Biotech LLC, a rendering operation in Linkwood, Md., to Valley Proteins Inc. The sale will allow Allen Harim to focus on core poultry business operations, according to the company.
