SILOAM SPRINGS, ARK. — Simmons Foods named Johnny Bullington the new president of Simmons Prepared Foods. He succeeds Joel Sappenfield, who announced his retirement last week after more than 30 years serving the poultry industry.
“Johnny’s background and deep understanding of our business position him well to lead Simmons Prepared Foods through the next phase of growth,” said David Jackson, chief operating officer of Simmons Foods. “He is the right person to guide us as we continue to grow and build a strong future with our customers and team members.”
Bullington brings nearly two decades of experience in the poultry industry to his new role. He has held key positions at Simmons and Tyson Foods. Bullington’s career at Simmons began in 2006 as a production accountant. He has since held several leadership positions in the finance, accounting and supply chain department. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of business operations.
Bullington earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Central Arkansas and his MBA from John Brown University.
“I am excited and honored to take on this new role at Simmons Prepared Foods,” Bullington said. “Simmons has always been a company that puts people first, and that’s something I truly value. I look forward to building on the strong foundation Joel has laid and continuing to lead this team toward even greater success.”
