Processors are delivering meat snacks in new formats and flavors.
Brave Good Kind introduced its Tender Chicken Bars earlier this year. The bars come in three flavors: original, teriyaki and hot honey.
Each 0.8-oz bar contains 60 to 70 calories, 8 grams of protein, 4 to 5 grams of carbohydrates and fewer than 6 grams of sugar.
Tyson Foods, Inc. has expanded its air fried chicken platform with the new Air Fried Chicken Bites. The snacks are cooked using circulated hot air with a touch of oil to achieve a fried-like product and texture. The cooking method results in a product that contains 75% less fat and 35% fewer calories than traditional breaded, fried and boneless chicken, according to the company.
General Mills’ Epic brand introduced its Beef Barbacoa-Inspired Bar earlier this year that is make from beef raised using practices to reduce carbon emissions. Specifically, regenerative farming practices that improve soil health were used to raise the cattle. The bar features the Land to Market Ecological Outcome Verifications Seal certification.
John Soules Foods has introduced a line of refrigerated seasoned chicken bites sold in 3-oz portion packs. Varieties include agave citrus, blackened, fajita, lemon herb and Thai-style chili teriyaki.
Land O’Frost, Inc. has added turkey bites to its line of Gone Rogue meat snacks. The snacks are baked with a blend of spices and come in four flavors, including sea salt and black pepper, Nashville Hot, maple brown sugar, and honey mustard. Each 1-oz serving has 60 calories, 10 grams of protein, 1.5 grams of fat and 1 gram of carbohydrates, according to the company.
Hillshire Farm, a Tyson Foods, Inc., brand has introduced Snacked to the children’s snack segment. The refrigerated snack packs contain three bite-size components that pair Hillshire Farm meats with cheeses and a treat.
The new snacks are available in four varieties, including pepperoni with confetti cake bites and mini strong cheese; pepperoni with brownie bites and Monterey Jack cheese; salami with mini chocolate covered pretzel rods and Monterey Jack cheese; and turkey with chocolate chip cookies and cheddar cheese.
