Delmore has spent nine years with the Animal Science Department at California Polytechnic State Univ. in San Luis Obispo. During his tenure there, he developed a nationally recognized undergraduate teaching program in meat science.
“We are very pleased to have Prof. Delmore in this new position,” said Kevin Pond, head of the Department of Animal Sciences at Colorado State Univ. “The increase in the number of meat science faculty is an important part of the strategic initiatives of the College of Agricultural Sciences.”
Delmore has been an active member of AMSA since 1991, according to the association. He served as director of the board from 2008-2010 and participated on numerous committees. Delmore chaired the 2010 AMSA 64th Reciprocal Meat Conference, and was the past recipient of the 2007 AMSA Distinguished Achievement Award. He is currently serving as chairman of the North American Meat Association’s Education Committee and as a member of NAMA'S Strategic Planning Committee.
Delmore was formerly the vice president of Technical Services at Clougherty Packing Co., where he was responsible for all aspects of food safety, HACCP systems, USDA-FSIS regulatory compliance, quality management, chemistry and microbiology laboratories, product specifications, research and development, customer specification and audit requirements, and animal welfare and handling.
