KANSAS CITY, Mo. – While some may consider the trend overdone, bacon is still booming on restaurant menus.
Wendy’s is offering the popular pork as a topping for its natural-cut fries. Wendy’s new Baconator fries are topped with Applewood Smoked Bacon, shredded cheddar cheese and a cheddar cheese sauce.
“We … cook our bacon fresh in our restaurants every day,” said Kurt Kane, Wendy’s chief concept officer. “When you walk into a Wendy’s and smell the bacon cooking, then you know we treat it with the respect that bacon lovers deserve.”
Arby’s boosted its bacon by adding brown sugar. The chain now is offering brown sugar bacon along with three new sandwiches: the Brown Sugar Bacon BLT, the Brown Sugar Bacon & Roast Beef, and the Brown Sugar Bacon & Pit Smoked Ham.
Whataburger also featured the much-loved meat in its new Sweet & Spicy Bacon Burger. Served on a five-inch toasted bun, the sandwich consists of two beef patties, bacon, grilled onions, Monterey Jack and American cheese, Whataburger’s Original Mustard and Whataburger’s new Sweet & Spicy Pepper Sauce.
Even Sonic couldn’t resist adding bacon to its new Croissant Dogs. Its new Bacon Double Cheddar Croissant Dog is topped with bacon and cheddar cheese.
