KANSAS CITY — The top three New Year’s Resolutions for 2019 revolve around health and wellness, according to a survey by Inc. Coming in at No. 1 is dieting and eating healthier, No. 2 is to exercise more and the No. 3 resolution is to lose weight.
To help consumers toward these wellness goals, restaurants are offering new better-for-you options.
A new line of Lifestyle Bowls at Chipotle Mexican Grill taps into popular diets consumers may choose to follow in the new year. The bowls are available in four varieties: Whole30 Salad Bowl, featuring romaine lettuce, carnitas, fajita vegetables, tomato salsa and guacamole; Paleo Salad Bowl, with romaine lettuce, barbacoa, fajita vegetables, green salsa and guacamole; Keto Salad Bowl, with romaine lettuce, carnitas, red salsa, cheese and guacamole; and Double Protein Bowl, which has white rice, black beans, chicken, steak, red salsa, romaine lettuce and sour cream.
“Now more than ever, Americans are embracing new and varied approaches to healthy living and wellness,” said Chris Brandt, chief marketing officer at Chipotle. “We’ve watched guests custom create lifestyle-specific bowls when ordering in our restaurants, so it made sense to offer delicious options via our online channels that help people easily order bowls with real ingredients that fit their wellness goals.”
At Dunkin’, a new better-for-you breakfast sandwich has landed on the menu to help “introduce a new energy to our restaurants and our fans,” said Tony Weisman, CMO for Dunkin’ U.S. Packing 24 grams of protein, 20 grams of whole grains and 370 calories, the Power Breakfast Sandwich features a veggie egg white omelet with spinach, peppers, onions, turkey sausage and American cheese on a new multigrain sandwich bread topped with seeds and rolled oats.
“The new year is all about new possibilities and opportunities, and enthusiasm enough to maybe finally keep those resolutions,” Dunkin’ said. “In the spirit of ‘new year, new you,’ Dunkin’ is welcoming both new and returning favorite menu items to give the brand and its guests an energizing start to 2019.”
