DALLAS — Amy M. Smith has joined On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina as its new vice president of culinary. In this role, she is tasked with leading the restaurant chain’s culinary team and focusing on menu innovation to bring in new customers.
Most recently, Smith was senior director of culinary and guest experience innovation for Buffalo Wild Wings, a role she held for five years. Before that, she spent nine years with Logan’s Roadhouse as the restaurant chain’s director of culinary, beverage innovation and product development. Prior to her time at Logan’s, Smith was product development chef for Pret A Manger, and earlier in her career she worked with Mars Inc. on R&D and collaborated with the Culinary Institute of America in the development of recipes.
Smith is a member of various culinary associations, including the Institute of Food Technologists, Women Chefs and Restauranteurs and the International Corporate Chefs Association, where she serves as board member and president.
“We are delighted to have Amy join the On the Border team,” said Matt Hood, CEO of On the Border. “We are proud of our culinary heritage and know that Amy will be instrumental in leading On the Border to find innovative ways to introduce Mexican flavors and experiences that appeal to our guests.”
The addition of Smith follows two leadership appointments at On the Border within the last year. Earlier this month, the Mexican restaurant chain brought aboard a new chief operating officer, and in April 2018 the company named a new CEO.
