RICHMOND, Va. – George L. Holm, president and CEO of Performance Food Group (PFG), was appointed chairman of the company’s board of directors. Holm succeeds Douglas Steenland, who resigned his position on the board on Jan. 30.
Holm will continue to serve as PFG’s top executive, a role he has served in since May 2008. The company’s net sales have grown from approximately $10 billion in fiscal 2009 to approximately $17.6 billion in fiscal 2018, PFG noted.
“I want to express my sincere appreciation for Doug’s leadership,” Holm said. “His contributions have been invaluable to PFG and the management team. He has served and offered guidance to Performance Food Group for nearly a decade helping us navigate our transition to a public company.”
In connection with Steenland’s resignation, current director Manuel A. Fernandez was tapped to serve as lead independent director of the board.
PFG also announced new leadership for the company’s foodservice business. Craig Hoskins was named president and CEO of the unit and executive vice president of PFG. Hoksins will report to Holm.
Hoskins joined PFG in 2008 following its merger with Vistar Corp. During his tenure at PFG, Hoskins rose through the company ranks via roles of increasing responsibility in sales and marketing, merchandising and purchasing, and operations. He was named president and CEO of PFG Customized Distribution and a senior vice president of PFG in January 2012 after serving as president and COO of Customized Distribution. Hoskins assumed additional responsibility for Performance Foodservice’s sales and marketing in January 2018 and has served in an interim role as president and CEO of Performance Foodservice since August of 2018.
“Craig is an industry expert with nearly three decades of distribution experience,” Holm said of Hoskins. “His background in senior commercial and operating roles will be integral to our continued success as we grow the business and execute on our long-term strategic goals.”
