GARNER, N.C. – Butterball announced on March 5 that Peter Brown will take over as chief operating officer of the company.
“Peter’s broad background in all facets of the protein industry means he has successfully solved some of our industry’s biggest challenges. We’re incredibly fortunate to tap into his experience and expertise in utilizing Lean manufacturing and management principles to collaboratively drive results,” said Jay Jandrain, Butterball president and CEO who was previously the company’s chief operating officer. “Peter has a proven track record of turning strategy into actions and leveraging the skills of existing talent to build high-performing teams.”
Brown previously worked as president and chief operating officer at High Liner Foods, a global seafood company based in New Hampshire. He has more than 30 years of executive leadership experience from different levels of procurement, manufacturing, commercial distribution and customer support for various protein companies in both retail and foodservice.
Brown replaces Jay Jandrain as COO of Butterball after he was promoted to president and CEO in December 2018.
As COO, Brown will work with the company’s six turkey processing facilities and all operational support function to drive results and manage operations.
Brown holds a bachelor’s degree in food science from California Polytechnic State Univ. in San Luis Obispo, California. In addition, he is a member of various industry boards and organizations supporting sustainability, regulatory and legislative initiatives.
