DENTON, Texas – Tyson Sales and Distribution Inc., a unit of Tyson Foods Inc., received a tax abatement of six years on a warehousing and distribution facility the company is developing on 50 acres of property in Denton, Texas.
County officials recently approved an abatement of 25 percent of the county’s ad valorem taxes on new taxable tangible personal property. In exchange, Tyson will invest $18 million in real property improvements and roughly $28 million in business personal property for a total investment of about $46 million. The abatement takes effect on Jan. 1, 2022.
The facility Tyson plans to build will span at least 300,000 sq. ft. Tyson also agreed to provide 100 new full-time jobs with a weighted average hourly wage of at least $25.56 per hour as part of the agreement.
