NEW YORK – Meal kit company HelloFresh SE has partnered with Beyond Meat to add the plant-based Beyond Burger to its menu.
Offered as part of HelloFresh’s premium Craft Burger collection, its first offering featuring the Beyond Burger is the Goudalicious Beyond Burger. The burger is topped with a caramelized onion jam, mustard aioli and melted gouda and is paired with potato wedges. The new item will begin shipping nationwide the week of Sept. 14.
“We are always looking to expand our menu offerings and provide customers with exciting, new recipe choices that appeal to a variety of palates and eating preferences,” said Marcel Comtois, vice president of procurement for HelloFresh US. “With the addition of the Beyond Burger to our menus, we’re excited to give our home cooks the opportunity to discover new ways of cooking delicious burgers using this innovative plant-based protein.”
Beyond Meat’s Beyond Burger is designed to look, cook and taste like beef and is made without gluten, soy or GMOs. Each patty provides 20 grams of plant-based protein derived from a blend of peas, mung beans and brown rice. The Beyond Burger contains less total and saturated fat than an 80/20 beef burger, according to the company.
“We’re very pleased to partner with HelloFresh to bring the Beyond Burger to more families across North America,” said Ethan Brown, founder and CEO of Beyond Meat. “We know that tasting is believing, and this partnership will enable more consumers to experience the meaty taste and juicy texture of the Beyond Burger while enjoying the added nutritional and environmental benefits of consuming plant-based protein.”
HelloFresh is the second meal kit maker to add the Beyond Burger to its lineup. In July, Blue Apron teamed up with Beyond Meat to offer the plant-based patties on caramelized onion and cheddar burgers with garlic green beans and jalapeño and goat cheeseburgers with corn on the cob.
Taco Del Mar adds Beyond Meat
The Beyond Meat Taco also was added to the menu of 10 Taco Del Mar locations in Seattle and Vancouver, Washington.
The Beyond Meat Taco features the plant-based Beyond Beef Feisty Crumbles mixed with medium chipotle salsa, diced onions and minced serrano peppers, topped with shredded cheddar and Monterey jack cheese, shredded lettuce, pico de gallo and jalapeños served on corn tortillas. The plant-based protein is also available in burritos, enchiladas, taco salad or quesadilla.
“We always strive to introduce innovative and high-quality items to our guests with new craveable flavor profiles,” said Chef Mike Gieseman, director of culinary and innovation for REGO Restaurant Group, which owns Taco Del Mar. “Introducing Beyond Meat’s delicious product to our menu allows us to expand on our vegetarian offerings while continuing to embrace our signature Baja-style Coastal Mexican Cuisine — it’s a natural next step in the evolution of our menu.”
